Out the Mouth: Lederrick (Glass)

1.) What's your name?

My real name is Sherif its not pronounced like Sheriff though.

2). What's your music name?

My music name is Lederrick pronounced like the name. Some people have though it was pronounced like ledder-rick but no, it’s pronounced like LahDerrick

3). Where did that name come from?

The name came from my friend. It’s hard to think of a name, especially when you are first starting out and suck; you think your name is so important (which it can be don’t get me wrong). But yeah, my friend was saying it all the time so it was just in my head so i decided to call myself that. It worked out and its not too over the top.

4). How long have you been making music?

Not that long, I mean I used to mess around on Garageband and play live instruments in high school, but never anything that would be seen as “making music”. I was never really creating anything that good but then about 6 months ago i started to take it more seriously after I made a few good tracks. Since then Ive been making stuff almost everyday.

5). What was your first project?

My first project was probably some horribly wretched beat tape that no one listened to, I wouldn’t want you to listen to, and I would never listen to myself. Lets just leave it at that.

6). What was your last project?

My last project was an album called “Glass”. I decided on the album when I realized I had a few tracks that sounded all of the same nature. So I decided to put them together and release it.

7). Where did you record this music?

I recorded it at my old house in Colorado Springs and my new house in Denver, Colorado. I pretty much just plug my headphones in and start working anywhere so I probably worked on it in the car, wherever really as long as I have headphones and my laptop I can pretty much work anywhere. Living in a beautiful place like Colorado helps to just make me feel more positive and motivated to work though though so that should be mentioned.

8). How long did it take from start to finish?

Probably around 2 weeks. I didn’t really plan on releasing an album or anything but I had a few tracks compiled I thought would sound nice together so I figured I may as well drop it.

9). Did anyone else help with it?

Yes I have two tracks which are collaborations on it.

10). Who are they and what did they do?

Two of the tracks on it were co-produced by UK produced GVMBON. We met on soundcloud and he sent me some really sick samples to work on. Shouts out to the internet for allowing me to find some great music from the UK and be able to work with someone all the way over there.

11). Anything impede the making of this record?

Yeah my shitty ass old job (which I quit). I felt like a brainless zombie everyday when I got home from work and couldn’t really come up with anything good. But then the samples Gvmbon sent me gave me a good start and I came up with some good stuff, quit that job, and got a new one, in that order.

12). You can only perform 2 songs from this record, which 2? Why?

I would perform the tracks “Crystal Princess” and “I Can’t Say Bye” I feel like those are the tracks on the album that have the most energetic kind of vibe. If I played a show I would want people to really be moving and jumping around so I would try and play happier tracks.
